Evidence-based testimony and lab work recommendation

10/2/2026

Hello, my friends and fellow humans.

It has been a while, and I have pretty much just been treading water and trying my best to go with the flow of the universe, our country and the world. The good news is that I now have nearly 700 days of meditation, and it is now an integral part of my life, and I have been continuing to heal physically and emotionally. Overall, I feel pretty great, and I have much hope and optimism for the future.

I thought I would take some time today to share some evidence-based testimony since much of it has been anecdotal thus far. A year ago, when I went in for some lab work, the test results indicated that my TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) level was elevated at 6.420. The doctor told me that she would like me to go on medication, and that I would likely be on it for the rest of my life.
I had been fairly low energy for me, but I figured that it was the result of repeated trauma and elevated cortisol levels from incredible stress, plus grieving and depression. I also remembered that my father had Hashimoto's thyroid disease, and I was told that it ran in the family.

Well, in my extensive research on oxalate sensitivity, I learned that oxalate crystals can get embedded in the thyroid gland. Therefore, I told the doctor that I thought I was finally on the right track at long last, and I wanted to wait to see if it the levels changed with a low oxalate diet, taking calcium citrate, plus the recommended nutrients to break down oxalates (essentially the same as the protocol for undermethylation).
She told me to return in 6 months for updated labs and we'd go from there. When I went back and received an updated lab result of 5.740, I was very excited and hopeful. When the doctor said that she still thought I needed medication and seemed to brush me off, I walked out of her office and found another doctor who actually listened to me.

When I got bloodwork done 6 months later, the results were 3.66- totally normal!! I also felt more energetic and positive overall.

Additionally, I had elevated cholesterol, and since I eat healthy 90% of the time, I thought this was insane. Well, it turns out that oxalate crystals can build up in the arteries as well. These darned little crystals seem to have the ability to accumulate anywhere and everywhere in the body for those who cannot process them properly.

Even though the new doctor had never heard of oxalates, again, she listened to me and did a bit of homework on the issue. She recommended that I take an Oxalic Acid test, and sure enough, the test results indicate that I have mild hyperoxaluria with a score of 40.6 (normal is 3.6-38.0). This was the case even after being on a very low oxalate diet for 2 years, and taking calcium citrate for about a year since calcium citrate binds with oxalates. I mentioned this in my post below, but I wanted to share it again ICYMI.

The first sign that I had a serious physical problem was in 1994 (!!!) when I started my first public school teaching job, and I had to have a physical. They discovered elevated levels of blood in my urine, and they would not even officially hire me until I went through multiple tests, which were all inconclusive.
I started having numerous physical and also emotional issues that I started to say were "autoimmune" problems since no one ever had any answers for me. I went through more tests and tried countless remedies over the years, but they were all bandaids for the real underlying problem- oxalate sensitivity! (I am sure there is also an underlying reason for that, of course- perhaps undermethylation? Although there is surely an underlying reason for undermethylation as well :)

I am sure that I am being pretty redundant about the topic by now, but it just amazes me that after all this time- 30 years!- I finally have some real answers and actual evidence-based testimony based upon lab results.

It's not necessarily easy to follow a low oxalate diet as it is a bit of a pain in the ass, but it is well worth the trouble.

I feel pretty amazing overall, and in many ways, better than ever before in my life.

I also wanted to share that I stopped taking the MT Promoter (mentioned in posts below) for a few months or so since I am beyond broke at this point in time, however, I decided to start taking it again since I have exposure to questionable chemicals and possibly heavy metals at work. I definitely notice a huge difference, and I feel that MT Promoter is very beneficial for anyone who has autism, ADHD, Alzheimer's, etc.

The nutrient protocol that I highly recommend for anyone struggling with undermethylation is Brain Science Nutrition Zinc Primer 50 and MT Promoter. Together, they cost $100 for a 90 day supply, which is a bit over a dollar a day and worth every penny for optimal health and happiness.

Here is the website for Brain Science Nutrition again:    www.brainsciencenutrition.com

Here is the Oxalic Acid test that I did. You do not need a doctor referral to take this test, btw:

Here is a link to an excellent article and another test that looks more thorough and accurate than the one I did for anyone whose insurance might cover it:

Considering that the level of oxalates in the typical diet in our country has increased dramatically in the past 20 years, in particular, I strongly believe that this test should be given more regularly. When I was having my blood drawn to test my thyroid levels the last time, the lab technician mentioned to me that she had A LOT of thyroid tests lately, and this does not surprise me in the least.
I do not mean to overgeneralize as I am sure that oxalate sensitivity is not the only reason behind increased thyroid issues, but it could possibly be a contributing factor. Also, high thyroid levels are not the only physical sign for sensitivity to oxalates. From what I have read and deducted, it seems to impact everyone differently. There is no doubt in my mind that my dear sister, Mary, also had similar issues, but it seemed to impact her back, spine and bones more so, which I have also read can be a result of oxalate sensitivity.

Considering how ubiquitous that high oxalate foods have become, it is not surprising that countless people are suffering subsequent physical ramifications.

I have a couple theories that this issue is more serious, widespread and detrimental than many folks realize. It could very well be contributing to the incredible polarization and division in our country, and to the demise of our democracy. I am being a bit facetious, but then again, it honestly would make perfect sense.

Now that I have my main physical issues figured out and also related emotional challenges, hopefully I can focus my energy and attention first, on my financial struggles and then next, hopefully my dreams and goals . After doing pretty much everything on my property on my own the past decade, and after doing so in the midst of incredible loss and trauma, I am hanging on by a thread financially speaking. I also lost nearly 75k due to an ongoing dramatic saga that to me has been incredible gender bias and discrimination. I am trying my best to internalize forgiveness yet also advocate for much-needed changes and shifts in our society.

If anyone reading this would care to purchase a ten acre wetlands parcel or loan me 30k while I try to figure out a way to make a bit more money, please get in touch! I am not looking for charity, but I could really use a helping hand at the moment so that I can stay in the lovely home and property that I have worked so hard on the past decade. I honestly feel that it would practically kill me to be forced to move at this point in time, especially after everything else that I have endured the past decade and most of my life thus far.

I am also looking for a business partner who is interested in doing some sort of agricultural endeavor here on my property, so if you or anyone you know might be interested, please inquire within.

Love, me (LCP)
